Running – Finding Inspiration

Beginning novelists are often confused about imagination and inspiration, unsure of the specific roles each one plays and unsure of how the two interrelate.

Find challenges that inspire you – motivation asks you to take up inspiring challenges. They let you believe in yourself. Once the belief rises, a man becomes an unstoppable idea. This is the leitmotif of sales motivation.

At this level, inspiration has a spiritual quality. Dr Wayne Dyer points out that the word inspiration includes this dimension as ‘in-spirit-ion’. Literally the word inspire means to ‘breathe life into’ (the opposite of expire!).

I just tend to prefer a pound of perspiration and the increased probability of success. And of course, I write how to books and related non-fiction. So my worship of the muse is slightly skewed. But still, read articles is necessary.

Your brain actually resists the change; not because it is trying to make things hard for you, but it does so for a very good reason. Your brain’s basic function is to keep you safe. Its main interest is your survival.

Watch an inspiring movie. There are lots of them out there! Remember some flick you saw ten years ago, one that left you with an uplifted feeling? Fire up the VCR or DVD player, and watch it again. I watch “It’s A Wonderful Life” several times a year, even in the summer time, just to rekindle that feeling of inspiration it always gives me. Which movie will do it for you?

5) Think Positively – People who are the most successful at something: whether it be in the area of music, business, sports… you name it; they had days where they lost inspiration. Even the people who are passionate, and were born with a special gift, loose inspiration at some point in time. We fight this by having a spirit of perseverance. We should have an attitude that no matter what, I will keep trying until I see results.

There’s no limit to how happy you can be! Just go out there and be your very best you! Your happiness will in turn motivate those around you so it’s really win-win!
